i love to hear it raining out the window near my chair
i love to sense the chilling as it hangs there in the air
and it comes on all too quickly and i hope that it will last
all the feelings in the present - all the mem’ries from the past
i've always loved the raining - all four seasons come around
and it's like my heaven's crying and i'm lifted by the sound
slide my door to better hear it slide my heart to let it in
when november rains come calling and the showers all begin
i've grown cold as i've grown older - wrapped in blankets in my chair
and i turn on my lone heater and i wait for warming there
as my own life keeps evolving - as i spin on in my fate
there's a sense that life is passing and the hour's growing late
there's no thunder in this storming- it's just showers near my door
i am grateful just to hear it and i want to hear it more
toss these tears down oh my heaven - try to help me soothe my pain
let the weather pull me upwards as i listen to the rain
do not move this on too sudden - let it linger for an hour
angels speak to me in raindrops - God is there in every shower
do not let the dawn come quickly - let me sky cry all its tears
with the night's own rain approaching and the storming front comes near
i love to hear it raining out the window near my chair
mother nature out to call me back to life if i might dare
for i wrestle almost daily searching out for what is true
let it rain on till the morning - let it wash my soul anew
