heard the songbird from now somewhere - she was sitting on the tree
said my name was on her callings that she ventured out to me
i knew muses when she gestured - i knew sirens when they wailed
i knew better things unwritten when i'd lost and when i failed
please keep singing bird unspoken - just a note or two will do
i am counting in my day times - i am counting much on you
need a voice to cheer me onward and a tune that you can write
only you can give me presence - take me somewhere through the night
she is out there singing somewhere even if i miss her call
pulled aside to great abandon even if i pulled at all
did i give too much attention or just leave her in my loss
i just hate to see my failure - i'm just carrying my cross
so i reach out when i'm ready just to offer waiting hands
and the poet waits reflecting in the shadows where he stands
still he's trapped inside his darkness but he tries to grasp the light
in the silence of his evening and the dawning of his night
sing out songbird i am listening one more tune just for a day
give me comfort for a moment blessed together come what may
pull me deep out from the roadside where i fell down once again
kiss me deeply sing so sweetly let me love you once again
